Sycamore's Get, Set, Tokyo
As part of Sycamore's new topic Get, Set, Tokyo we are reading a traditional Australian myth called 'The Rainbow Serpent'. This week we have learnt all about Aboriginal art. We learnt that Indigenous Australians used ochre to paint on rocks. We learnt about two main types of art; rock art (using ochre mixed with water to create a paste) and dot painting.
We used spices mixed with water to make our own ‘paint’ and used our fingers to apply it to the walls and floor in the style of dots. We tried to create our own images of the Rainbow Serpent!
